Spokane Pastors' Lunch
The spokane pastors' group exists to glorify God by encouraging Spokane pastors to delight in and display the glories of Christ and the gospel in our personal lives and ministries. The group has been meeting monthly for about eight years on the final Thursday of the month, and is hosted by a different church/pastor each month. The host pastor usually leads on a discussion topic having to do with practical theology or current culutral or ministerial issues. Past topics have included: How to find, train and shepherd lay elders, Working with the worship leader, The legalization of Marijauna in Washington State, Persecution of the church, and A Gospel-centered response to homosexuality. The group seeks to emphasize pastoral unity on issues of church ministry, such as:
- Expositional preaching in the local church body
- Shared Biblical eldership of the local body
- Consistent shepherding of church members by elders
- The faithful practice of church discipline
- Complementary roles for men and women in the church and home
Since the beginning, the pastors' group has been united by the T4G statement of affirmations and denials. A pastor desiring to join this group must agree with this statement, be recommended by a current member, and be approved by the group.
